Hot Chocolate Bombs
Makes 6 bombs
These mini hot chocolate bombs are a great gift or to make with your kids. These bombs have a thin chocolate shell and in them are homemade hot chocolate mix and marshmallows.
All you need are a few ingredients.
Hot Chocolate Mix
I find ready hot chocolate mix too sweet. Making your own is cheaper and easy. Here's what you need.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup good quality cocoa powder (I used cacao powder)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoon corn starch
Directions
1. In a mason jar, mix all ingredients together and that's it.
Now lets make the chocolate shells
What you need
- 1/2 cup milk dark and white chocolate
- 1 cup of mini marshmallows
- hot chocolate mix
- molds (link down below)
Directions
1. Put each kind of chocolate in a ziploc bag. In a bowl, add all the ziploc bags in. Add hot water to the bowl letting the hot water melt the chocolate. Get one bag and snip the corner and fill half the circle with chocolate. Get a spoon and spread the chocolate and continue with the rest of the molds.(You might have some chocolate leftover just put it in the fridge for later or for cookies, just chop them up and put them in the dough)
2. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place the molds faced down. Then, chill in the fridge for 10-15 minuets/overnight or until set.
3. After they're chilled, get a small bowl or I used a teaspoon to place one shell in. Add a heaping teaspoon of hot chocolate mix and a small handful of mini marshmallows. Then, get a plate and run it under warm water and dry it thoroughly. Then get the other shell and put on plate to let it melt a little and then quickly attach it to the other to seal it.
4. After, they're all made then place them back on molds gently and back in the fridge to set. I like to let it set overnight.
5. Now that they're set then, you can decorate them with a little drizzle of chocolate or whatever you like.
How to use them is get either a hot cup of milk and drop the bomb in and let it melt. You can also pour hot milk on top of the bomb and watch it melt then, stir.
Now you can enjoy them or wrap them up.
Hope you enjoy them.
